PPA Citizen’s Charter, article on The Freeman

November 17, 2009. The November 15, 2009 issue of The Freeman, a leading newspaper in Region VII affiliated with the Philippine Star, carried the article “Parole and Probation Admin creates citizen’s charter,” on its News page 8.
This was written by The Freeman correspondent Jessica Ann R. Pareja, who even on a weekend, called Regional Public Information Officer Ceres Geromo about the PPA Citizen Charter, which the latter sent her through e-mail for publication sometime last month.
The article was a sure building good image publication for the agency. It included the PPA pledge to provide prompt and efficient public service, the salient features of the charter and some January to September 2009 statistics, among others.

Double Celebration in PPA7

November 17, 2009. PPA Regional Office No. 7 had cause to celebrate today! Of course, this week, we observe Drug Abuse Prevention Week (November 16-21), with this year’s theme ” Kilos Mamamayan, Droga’y Patuloy Labanan.” But today’s festivities was not about our mandate. Today, the focus was on the two highest officials in the region. Our team building and bonding activity was a surprise joint celebration of the birthdays ARD Al Cainglet (October 21) and RD Ofelia Quijano (November 16).
As a fitting offering, a Holy Eucharist was held at the GFB Information Center. It was officiated by Msgr. Roger Fuentes of the San Carlos Seminary and Pastor Bonus TC Center and attended by Cebu-based PPA personnel. The CPPOs, RO Staff and the Social Workers led the “Agape” lunch salo-salo and a merry “sing-along” followed.
Former PPA Administrator Gregorio F. Bacolod and former CPPO Leonardo “Jun” Tumlos and his wife, Gina, were invited guests. RD Ofel’s daughter Goldine and granddaughter Shanee, who just arrived from China, and sister Denna Vivares, CPPO of Bukidnon PPO, were also among the well-wishers for RD Ofel.

ppa7 cebu-based employees attend arena7 sports parade

At 5:30 am today, November 6, 2009, Parole and Probation Administration Cebu-based employees trooped to the Cebu City Sports Center to attend the opening of the Sports Fest sponsored by the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies in Region VII. The last national agencies Sports Fest sponsored by the ARENA-7 was more than a decade ago, in 1997. About 25 agencies will participate in the different games that will be played in this sports competition.
Clad in their PPOLPI 2008 white and black jersey, they circled the oval with muse Ms. Jo Angelyn Yap. She was lucky to have worn a sash because even the winner did not have a Ms. Sportsfest sash, nor a bouquet of flowers, nor a trophy or certificate for a prize. Our muse was the only contestant who wore a sash introducing Ms. PPADOJ, a nice building good image symbol.

ARENA-7 members RD Ofel Quijano and ARD Al and the PPA participants joined the “Hataw,” headed by the CNU Kinesthetics group, a simple yet tiring exercise dance routine.

DDB Chair Sotto graces DDB Seminars in PPA-7

DDB Chair USec. Tito Sotto, ARD Al Cainglet and the 12 new DDB Authorized Reps

On September 4, 2009, DDB Chairperson, Secretary Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III, came to Cebu City to grace two, back-to-back, DDB-funded seminars at the Crown Regency Hotel, Guadalupe, this city. Former senator Sotto first graced the Training for Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Authorized Representatives for Regions 6,7,9,10,11&12. He was congenially welcomed by everyone, he being a known TV personality. In his Message, he lauded the agency and its personnel for their commitment to help DDB in the Voluntary Submission Program as DDB Authorized Representatives. Then he crossed over to those attending the Seminar on Life Skills for Drug Abuse Prevention, in another room at the same venue.

The following day, Sec. Sotto visited His Eminence Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal to hand over the DDB Board Resolution allocating PhP15M for the construction of the Pastor Bonus TC Center, a project of the Archdiocese of Cebu and a community outreach program of the Parole and Probation Administration, Region VII.

CAQ to be renamed CNAQ, PFP to CNAP

The Client Assessment Questionnaire (CAQ) and the Personality Factors Profile (PFP) are to be renamed Client Needs Assessment Questionnaire or CNAQ and Client Needs Assessment Profile (CNAP), respectively, when approved by the PPA Administration.

The CNAQ is a survey questionnaire which will provide field officers with a measure of the client’s needs in terms of the TC treatment categories: behavioral, emotional/psychological, intellectual/ spiritual and vocational/survival. The CNAP is the profile of the results of the CNAQ to aid the field officers in the preparation of the Supervision Treatment Plan of the client.

This change was arrived at by the Sub-Committee for the Improvement and Validation of the CAQ and PFP that met on September 3&4, 2009 at the GFB Information Center at PPA Regional Office No. 7.

No-Lunch Break at PPA7

There is now a “no-lunch break” policy in the whole Department of Justice. This as Secretary Agnes VST Devanadera orders a “no-lunch break” policy in the Department of Justice. This will give the public a continuous delivery of service from DOJ agencies.

Hence, Parole and Probation Administration, Regional Office No. 7, will be open to the transacting public from 12:00 nn to 1:00 pm. The assigned personnel who will man the front desk are the following: Monday, Victor Ariesga; Tuesday, Edwin Bagolor; Wednesday, Redondilla Rizada; Thursday, Ludivina C. Libatan and Friday, Flordeliz Cataluna of the Regional Office. Their lunch breaks are allowed according to their preference between 11:00am – 1:00 pm on their assigned days.
